Some people develop excess loose tissue on the inside of the upper arms as they age or after large weight loss. This is primarily because skin loses its tone and elasticity in both circumstances.
If the skin is well-toned, liposuction can remove excess fat, allowing the skin to shrink on its own. However, when there is too much skin, surgery is the option for best results.
This extra skin and fat can be surgically removed through incisions extending along the inside of the arm, from the armpit to the elbow. The remaining tissues are tightened, and the arm is restored to a more youthful appearance.
This procedure can be done as day surgery with some restrictions of arm activity for two weeks. Some scarring will remain however many women find the scarring far preferable to living with “flapping” upper arms.
